Evidence-Based Practice

A general look into the topic of Evidence-Based Practice, PICO/PICOT, and Levels of Evidence.

Explanation

"The mnemonic PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparator and Outcome) is a staple of evidence-based practice (EBP) pedagogy in nursing... PICO stands for Population, Intervention, Comparator and Outcome. Although there are variations on the mnemonic such as PICOS (S = study design), PICOTT (T = type of question asked, T = type of study design), PICOT (T = time), the purpose of the mnemonic is to help the clinician questioner focus on patients and their pertinent issues and outcomes."
