The Writing Center
|
Conveniently located in the Learning Commons, the Writing Center welcomes undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and faculty working on anything from class essays to research papers. We frequently assist with:
- Crafting essays for classes
- Developing independent research projects
- Writing seminar papers, grant proposals, articles, or dissertations
- Adapting to U.S. academic writing, especially for international students
- Polishing essays for fellowships, grad school, or job applications
- Preparing oral presentations
No matter where you are in the writing journey—whether you're brainstorming, refining your thesis, structuring your argument, or fine-tuning your draft—our Writing Center-trained tutors have your back. Each session is focused on helping you develop strategies that make you a stronger, more confident writer. While we don't provide editing or proofreading services, we can help you identify recurring grammar, mechanics, or sentence structure issues.
Our Writing Center-trained tutors are ready to dive into any writing project, offering free, one-on-one sessions to help you tackle your writing at any stage.
Our tutors are your go-to partners for feedback, ideas, and advice. They’ll serve as thoughtful readers and trusted critics, helping you uncover the best in your own work. And while Writing Center sessions offer valuable support, they’re designed to work alongside the guidance you receive from your teachers and advisors, not replace it.
