The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation (2024) employs:
"the term 'open education' to encompass the myriad of learning resources, teaching practices and education policies that use the flexibility of OER [open educational resources] to provide learners with high quality educational experiences. Creative Commons defines OER as teaching, learning, and research materials that are either (a) in the public domain or (b) licensed in a manner that provides everyone with free and perpetual permission to engage in the 5R activities– retaining, remixing, revising, reusing and redistributing the resources."
This page provides links to select OER for a specific subject area. However, you will likely find additional existing OER as you explore further.
We encourage Kean faculty to visit Kean University's OER guide for more information on how they can adopt, adapt, and/or author OER for their own students. The OER guide also provides Kean faculty with access to the Faculty Select database, which they can use to search for quality OER and DRM-free eBooks from top academic publishers.
