These encyclopedia databases may not provide information about current events, but they will provide background information that will help explain events that are happening in the news.

Britannica Online (Encyclopaedia Britannica) The academic online version of the famous Encyclopaedia Britannica.
CQ Press Library (Congressional Quarterly) Provides simultaneous searching of all Congressional Quarterly Press online collections, featuring resources in the fields of government, politics, and public affairs. Includes access to many resources of the U.S. government.

Gale eBooks (Gale Cengage Learning) A comprehensive collection of reference resources such as subject-focused encyclopedias and dictionaries, available in a single database.
New Jersey News Sources -- Access World News Research Collection (NewsBank) Offers full-text access to over 200 New Jersey newspapers, newswires, web sources, and blogs.
SAGE Knowledge Provides reference resources such as subject-focused dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other reference materials published by SAGE.
